Inquiry

Whenever I'm asked what are my expectations of something, my first thoughts are about what the person I'm responding to expects of my expectations. What does that person wants from me? Is what I'm going to answer change or create an idea about me? Will this idea be true to what I really am?

What is expected of a writing course? That it teaches people how to write even better. That it makes us capable of rewriting other texts and making them greater. That it makes possible for us to make a simple letter worth of a Shakespeare's act or a Poe's poem. Because that's something that can't just be taught. What could be taught has already been taught.

What do we read? Everything. Not just written things. All that passes by my eyes or drops in my ears becomes a text in my mind. However, if you want to restrain to the traditional concept of text, I should tell you that I read mostly ordinary things. Magazines, newspapers, journals, comic books. Every now and then a literary piece comes to my hands and I have a chance to delight myself.

What don't we read? Let's just say I give to every text a chance of amazing me.
